Thank goodness that it is come and gone and we are safe and sound. My heart goes out to all those affected by these devastating storms.

I'm back......

Sorry that I have not posted anything for a while. I had a pinched nerve in my lower back that did not allow me to do much. My daughter, Megan, who is a massage therapist gave me stretches to do and I am now on the mend.

Japan's relief effort

We raised $200.00 for Japan at our raffle. I wish it had been more but at least we can send something. I thank everyone who contributed to the raffle for their donation.

White Oak Pottery Spring Show and Sale 2011

Well, we had a pretty good show considering that 62 tornados ran through North Carolina that day. Here are examples of the work that was at my show. Very talented craftsmen.

Butchy Butch....

My little mutt loves to play fetch and a lot of the time its with me walking to and from the studio and a lot of the time its me kicking the ball because my hands are full. I've gotten pretty good at kicking this ball so that it is airborne and he has gotten really good at jumping up and catching it. Day before yesterday while preforming my trick of getting the ball high in the air with my foot my big toes buckled under and I broke it.

Damn wasn't the only word that came out of my mouth.

I will have to have him hand me the ball........which he will gladly do again and again.

Signage......

The Spring show is next Saturday and I need new signs to bring customers in so I am making them myself. One day....and I've asked for one for my birthday.....I want professional signs made. Until then these will do nicely........Just don't look too close.

Hens and chicks.....

I did a demo at Cedar Creek Gallery's Spring Festival on Saturday and had a really good time with all the little kids who came. I demonstrated how I make hen and chicks and was asked if I would have any at our Spring show coming up. I of course said yes and then got busy making some on Sunday.

Last raku firing.......

This was the last time for the raku kiln located where my new kiln shed will stand. Bev....as in Bev Nagy.....comes from Charlotte to use this kiln since she can't really have one at her house. She lives close to downtown in the Fourth Ward and they don't like smoke. Bev was happy with her results and can't wait till she can raku again.

The barter system....

I finished my first lantern but before the sucker was even dry I traded it for a very wonderful backed stool for my kitchen island. Bev does nice work.
